MCAD – Creo Layout
Immediately creates 2D conceptual designs to reuse as the foundation of 3D models.
A considerable number of designers use 2D CAD tools for the conceptual engineering design in the early stage because they provide the best speed and flexibility to make changes when exploring various design plans. However, the benefits of 3D solid modeling become much prominent as the design is developed. The designers may want to create a 3D solid model as the final design output, but they still do not want to give up the speed and flexibility provided by 2D CAD in the early conceptualization stage. Transition between the two CAD systems becomes an issue when 2D CAD is chosen for the initial conceptual design and 3D CAD for the detailed design tool.
PTC Creo Layout provides an elaborate 2D platform with all tools required for 2D designers’ conceptual designs to resolve this problem. This software is based on the same technology with all other PTC Creo products, so it can reuse any 2D design as the sketch for 3D modeling without having to import or recreate 3D data. Also, the correlation between the 2D and 3D designs can be preserved selectively to automatically reflect any changes to the 2D design on the 3D design.
